William Howard Honored for 50 Years of Service

Bill is a native of Shinglehouse, PA (Potter County). He currently is the Athletic Director of Oswayo Valley

High School, a member of the District IX Committee, and a PIAA official of multiple sports. Recently, at the

"AAA" Track and Field Championships in Brookville, PA, Mr. Howard was presented with a plaque from

fellow committee member, Bonnie Wolbert, in honor of his 50 years of service as a PIAA official. Bill has

served as a PIAA basketball official for 50 years. At another level he is currently the District IX Rules' Interpreter

for basketball. That is not his only sport, though. Bill has also been a certified PIAA Track and Field official for 35

years and a volleyball official for 32 years.

In 1991, Mr. Howard officiated one of the PIAA Class "A" State Championship basketball games in Hershey, PA.

For the past several years Bill has been chosen as one of the officials for the State Track and Field Championships

in Shippensburg. In addition to this list of official assignments, he was also a certified basketball official in New York

State for 27 years and was an NCAA, an NAIA, and a JUCO collegiate official for 40 years.

Well done, Bill Howard! Thank you for your many years of service and dedication surrounding the student-athletes, both past and present
