ST. MARYS, Pa. – Congratulations to Elk County Catholic boys’ basketball coach and District 9 chairman Aaron Straub who won his 1,000th game as a basketball coach Friday night when the Crusaders beat visiting DuBois Central Catholic, 62-32.
Straub, who is in his 45th year as a head basketball coach – 43 straight with the ECC boys after two with the ECC girls – has a career record of 1,000-268 including 973-247 as the boys’ coach after going 27-21 in two years as the girls’ coach.
He is believed to be the second coach in Pennsylvania history to reach 1,000 wins joining Loyalsock’s Ron Insinger and one of under 50 in the nation to do so.
