Hanna, a track and field and cross country star, for the Berries and Harmon, a multiple sport athlete for Karns City including football and basketball, both received a $1,000 scholarship.
The Robert Tonkin Athletics for Life Scholarship was created for District 9 by the family of the late Robert (Bob) Tonkin, who served for many years on the District 9 committee while also serving as the secretary/treasurer until his death in the Spring of 2024. Tonkin was also a long-time coach and administrator at a number of District 9 schools.
