BROOKVILLE – District 9 baseball officials announced updates to the locations and times for one Class 1A semifinal game, the other Class 1A semifinal game site for Thursday, and the Class 3A championship game on Wednesday, ensuring optimal playing conditions for the playoffs.
CLASS 1A BRACKET • CLASS 3A BRACKET
In Class 1A, the semifinal game between Clarion and Elk County Catholic, originally scheduled for 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, at Brockway High School, has been relocated to Stern Field in DuBois at 3 p.m. on the same day. The other Class 1A semifinal will feature DuBois Central Catholic against the winner of Tuesday’s Port Allegany/Coudersport game and is set for 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, at Brockway High School.
“This change was made to ensure all games are played on fields with turf infields, which could be critical given the mid-week weather forecast,” District 9 baseball chairman Dave Osborne said.
The Class 3A championship game location and time will depend on the outcome of Monday’s semifinal between top-seeded St. Marys and fourth-seeded Brookville.
If St. Marys wins, the title game will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Brockway High School against the winner of the Karns City vs. A-C Valley/Union semifinal game also being held on Monday.
If Brookville defeats St. Marys, the championship will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, at Showers Field in DuBois to accommodate Brookville’s graduation ceremony that evening.
